C'mon, feel the noise. |2:57 AM| Just got back from a showing of "Mister Sinus Theater 3000" which is a local comedy group in the vein of MST3K. The movie they chose to taunt was "Masters of the Universe" with Dolph Lungren. Christ, I saw that movie back when I was 7 or 8, and I still remembered that the swiss-army-pineapple/mecha-dildo thing in the film was called a "cosmic key". The performance of the Sinus group was incredible, far funnier than you could really expect given the circumstances.
Girls, rock your boys
I had just dropped Vorpal and Casey off last night and was looking for a CD to listen to on the way home when it struck me how inconsistent my musical tastes are (Well, Vid in his infinite wisdom would claim they almost all suck, but he blows truckers for beer money). I'm going to start a list of the folks who have introduced me to various music types, it's the best way for me to start and finish any sort of cast of characters page.
From zusty I have some very peculiar varieties of music. A small sample would be Boney M's "Rah Rah Rasputin", Leo Kotke, along with (of all things) the FLCL soundtrack. By no means is this all of what she has sent me, but it's what I listen to in the car.

Videodrome has gotten me started on Pink Floyd, as well as an even greater appreciation of Led Zepplin.

Lampshade started me on to Dan Bern, as well as Mindless Self Indulgence.

Vorpal introduced me to the Flame Trick Subs, he and I go to the Hot Rod Hillbilly concerts, and he appreciates decent techno.

Poker Host Joe got me the names of some older style punk bands (Minor threat) and he, with zusty's health, turned me on to Social Distortion. Hell, I even listen to Eminem without too many complaints while I'm at Joe's place.

About the only other source for new types of music that I have outside of friends are movie soundtracks. Since I'm normally listening to classic rock stations when the radio is used, it's not like I'm going to hear the new single from a band that is either dead, or broken up, or both.

Shoot, I have to help someone move this evening, and I have to mail some packages. Curses. I'll be up half the night coding, then.
