I keep forgetting to dig the better .css file out of the folders on the other machine for the site.
I've also had the same color scheme for about 5 years now. I think it's time to change it up a bit.
My exile is apparently going to be about a month longer or so. I'm going to buy a small fridge for the hotel room, and a hot plate I think. Some free weights wouldn't be the worst idea in the world, either. Might as well continue to buff myself up a bit.
At least the lack of distractions/happiness will help my studying.

Links getting big for no reason |6:58 PM|
That's weird, the blog reverted to the old .css file. And I can't find the new less annoying one.
The PHP is still screwed up thanks to my host. If I had time I'd have already switched over to a less annoying provider. I guess that's a Saturday project.

Great |2:47 PM|
The menu on the right is functional, but my web host decided that paths defined in PHP require statements shouldn't work anymore.

What does this mean? It means this all was working this morning and then suddenly quit.

I'm on "lunch" at the moment.

At the suggestion of web designer Cass I changed the months to show up as actual names of months, instead of just numbers. Seeing as the menu is pretty hideous, any attempts to make it prettier are welcome.

.css crap, .png's have fallen |10:02 PM|
I'm still playing around with cascading style sheets, and I had to give up on a few things to keep this site working with IE6.

IE6 hates .png's, hates relative font sizes, and hates our freedom. I had to change the background for this page from a neato, full color .png to a shitty, 256 color .gif because IE6's support for .png is crap.

I'd usually say "Fuck it" and let people go get a real browser, but in this case I wanted to fix the problem, not stick to an ideal.

Also, the tooltips should be working again. In some cases, when I link to an image, or have some kind of side note, instead of the old method of a little asterick and a note at the bottom of the page, I use a bit of code like This. Just mouseover the link there, and it should pop up.

I can also throw thumbnails into these tool tips, like the post before this one about Thomas's tattoo.

Next up is refining line spacing. I'm playing around with the settings to avoid the "Wall of Text" effect I sometimes have when I just rant and rant in here. It'll also mean I have to adjust what line breaks do, and start actually paying attention to the function of the <P> tag. Yes, I had to go look up the control codes to make > display properly.

I fixed up the menu, and made the proper adjustments to give it an honest to goodness relative path. Hooray!
Now all I need is to move it to the side of the window, like where a civilized person would put it. Also, divs are so goddamn cool, but I haven't had time to implement them in a reasonable way.

Labels |5:32 AM|
The new blogger supports labels, which are neat. I went through some old posts, back to 4/18/03 (Kind of haphazardly) and tried to ad good labels to them.

Sadly, any "Pictures" related post that is more than a couple of years old is also going to be in the "Broken Links" category, until I get around to fixing them. Which I do actually intend to do, for as many as possible.

By no means are the labels perfect, or complete.
